The Appeal
Perhaps the finest of the hatchbacks, and almost certainly the most iconic, the Peugeot 205 GTI has rightfully earned a legendary status amongst generation after generation of enthusiasts. Even now, it's proving a popular gateway into classic ownership. That perky little powerplant, front wheel drive and a sub-900kg car all make a timeless formula. Combine that with excellent parts availability and simple mechanics, and it's little wonder!
205 GTIs often racked up enormous mileage - they were often regarded as being too fun to keep in a garage, and the hot-hatch squad could be brutal with their cars! - which really makes this one a special survivor. With a low mileage and a 'no expense spared' attitude to maintenance, the car has had plenty of work completed in recent years, and comes complete with an advisory-free MOT.

The History and Paperwork

- Accompanied by a wealth of invoices ranging from the early 1990s to the present day

- 82,183 miles indicated - which we understand is warranted by the history file
- The vendor points out that from the early 2000s, the history shows it’s been barely used: with invoices up to around 2006 and some old MOT test certificates
- No on-road miles have been covered from 2011 to 2021 as the car was part of a collection and not MOT-tested
- The vendor acquired it in April 2024 from Car & Classic
- Since then, it's only covered around 110 further miles
- The current MOT is advisory-free and runs until 17th January 2025
The Condition

- Smart white paintwork with few notable blemishes
- Gentle marks to the roof and early signs of use settling in around the seals
- The plastic exterior trims look to be in very good order for their age
- The underside presents very well and has been kept clean
- OEM alloy wheels shod with Pirelli Cinturato tyres
- The original upholstery is well-preserved and lightly patinated
- The driver’s outer seat bolster has split slightly and there is some wear to the carpet in the driver’s footwell
- The controls, switches and instruments present beautifully
- Recent new dashboard illumination
- The luggage compartment is clean and smartly turned out
The Mechanics
- 1.9-litre four-cylinder SOHC petrol engine with fuel injection
- Five-speed manual gearbox
