The Appeal
Renowned for its ruggedness and iconic silhouette, the Land Rover ranks amongst Britain’s highest automotive achievements. Since its inception in 1948, it has been the vehicle of choice for explorers, farmers, and even royalty.
This 1988 example originates from an interesting period in the company’s history, as the first generation to significant updates like coil springs and a brand-new interior. Known simply as ‘90s’ and ‘110s’ before the ‘Defender’ moniker arrived in 1990, Land Rovers of this vintage are some of the most usable in the firm’s classic line-up and so remain immensely sought-after.
This example is eminently worthy of your consideration. By replacing its original chassis with a more costly galvanised item, this Land Rover has essentially been future-proof, as it’s highly unlikely to develop any corrosion underneath in all the usual areas. The vendor reports that it has remained very reliable, so it's a vehicle that's ready for any adventure - whether it's a trip to the countryside or a challenging off-road expedition.
