1988 Land Rover 90

Highlights

  • Advisory-free MOT valid until 13th March 2025
  • Rare and refined 2.5-litre petrol-engined variant
  • Subject to comprehensive recent recommissioning

The Appeal

While often miscalled a Defender, there was a brief spell between the end of leaf-sprung Series production and the advent of the Defender moniker in 1990 when Land Rover’s core offerings were simply known as 90s and 110s - in reference to their wheelbase (in inches). These were the first coil-sprung Land Rovers, marking an important chapter in the history of the brand and now fondly remembered as some of the best off-roaders they ever made.
This 1988 Land Rover 90 has undergone extensive recommissioning and has received several desirable upgrades in the process including Wolf rims, military bumpers and military lights. It’s one of the lesser-seen petrol-engined 90s which is considerably quieter and smoother than contemporary diesel models. Having recently received a carb rebuild, new plugs, leads, points and condenser and a new exhaust, it reportedly starts every time and drives very well indeed. The paintwork is also new, as is the interior, making this one very smart old Land Rover indeed.
The advisory-free MOT runs until March 2025, so it’s ready to jump aboard and enjoy.
