The Appeal

If you grew up between the 70s and 90s, chances are you knew somebody who had an XJS. Perhaps you sat in it, or got to see the big old V12 lump under the bonnet, or simply got to hear it roll out of your street every weekend. They were, for a whole generation of Brits, the definitive aspirational car. They felt big, proud, elegant and stylish - and decades later, that somewhat controversial styling has become something of legend.

This fine example has been in the owner's care since 2019, and has covered only a whisker over 2,000 miles since. Plenty of work has been carried out, cossetting the car and keeping it eminently drivable. Now, it seeks a new owner as the owner moves onto new prospects.

The Condition

Bodywork is in very good order with a smooth lacquer finish
Machine buffed, compounded and polished last Summer
Some paintwork appears to have been been done prior to current ownership
However, overall it's a very handsome Midnight Blue livery that's nicely kept
Only very minor blemishes visible on close inspection
Nearside wing mirror up/down action not working, but a replacement part is included
Wheels and tyres are in good condition, with tyres having 5mm tread remaining
Interior is clean and tidy with a refurbished veneer ski slope
Minor crack in wood veneer on the dash
Upholstery in good order with only gentle wear
Carpets well presented
Radio head unit has a CD/front panel remover and works correctly with the aerial
The vendor also supplies an original head unit part which works
Electric windows, central locking, gauges, and switches are functional
A/C not working, heater functional but not brilliant
Trip computer has power but doesn't read accurately

5.3L V12 'High-Efficiency' Engine

Engine bay is in very good order
Car has been regularly serviced
We understand it to be starting, shifting, braking and driving well with no mechanical issues
Some minor oil leaks, but this doesn't affect pressure and is par for the course with a Jaguar of this era
Ultimately this appears to be a fabulous example of the XJS

Work undertaken in current ownership reportedly includes:

Replaced power-assisted steering rack and pinion & pipes in July 2019
Power steering pipe and corroded rear suspension repaired in November 2020
New battery installed in June 2020
Offside wing and inner sill rust repair completed in September 2021
