The Appeal
The E24 was BMW’s first Six Series - a new grand touring coupé built to replace the iconic E9 of CSL “Batmobile” fame. The E24’s elegant two-door styling is without doubt some of the great Paul Bracq’s finest work and the model was renowned for its superb performance.
This 1988 example is a 635 CSI - a variant that was greatly coveted in period for its fuel-injected SOHC straight-six offering a mightily impressive 217 horsepower. Paired with a four-speed ZF automatic transmission, it proved a consummate continental cruiser, ideal for high-speed stints on the Autobahn.
This example was acquired by the vendor’s father in 2016 and it has been cherished ever since. Garaged when not in use and attentively maintained by the owner’s grandson who is a trained mechanic, this 635 CSI is a lovely example. Ownership transferred to the vendor’s mother in December 2023 and since then it has been looked after by the vendor.
We’re informed that this BMW always turns heads and we’re hardly surprised. It’s a fabulous thing and we hope its next owner enjoys this car as much as the current family has.
