The Appeal
With the 928 S4, Porsche went all in. The rejuvenation of the 911 had threatened the 928 project, but the much-revised car was a clear statement of intent. Smoothed and improved aesthetics and a bigger, more brutal 5litre V8 pumping out 310bhp put the 928 firmly at the front of the GT firmament.
The 911 may be the go-to classic Porsche, but aficionados know that the 928 has considerable charms of its own. Together with a luxurious, comfortable and even practical cabin, the impeccably built 928 is not just Autobahn-quick, it’s great on the twisties too.
For all these reasons, good examples are becoming sought after. This early S4 looks like it fits the bill. Finished in a stand-out combination of ice white over black, it is a pleasingly factory standard car with an excellent history and maintenance file. The service book shows a run of 17 continuous stamps from a mix of main dealers and highly regarded specialists like Autofarm.
This is a car that would work equally as a distinctive daily or potent weekend weapon. With its long MOT it is ready to deliver on one or both.
