  • 67,703 genuine miles from new

  • Drives like a dream

The Appeal

Nearly 40 years after it was built this 930 has an aurora about it that nothing else can beat. Its wide rear stance, huge whale tail spoiler and stunning Fuchs alloys make for a timeless classic that has become a collector’s dream.
This example has a thorough history, stretching back to 1990 you just know that everything this car has ever needed it has got. The previous, and current owners have covered minimal mileage over their ownerships. Which has kept the odometer reading low making it an even more enticing offer.
Don’t you think that a Guards Red over Marine Blue Porsche 930 would look great in your collection? We do.

The History and Paperwork

  • Luckily this 930 has an extensive history folder, containing invoices, MOT certificates, and workshop manuals
  • Rolling off the production line in 1987 it was fitted with some great extras
  • These include bumpers with impact absorbers, front heated seats, 3-point rear seat belts, leather sports seats, electric sunroof, and velour carpet in the luggage compartment
  • It then goes through a few owners, all of whom keep the records up to date
  • Between them, almost all of the MOT certificates and invoices have been kept
  • You will also find some original Porsche handbooks in the leather folder
  • It has also managed to retain its original service book
  • One of the previous owners has fitted a Thatcham alarm system, there are two fobs for this
  • There are also two keys for the car
  • From this, we can see that from 1997 to 2018 it covered an average of 1,000 miles a year
  • The current owner acquired the car in 2017 and put it through a major service at Northway Porsche
  • It also benefitted from new front discs and pads
  • They also fitted a complete set of Continental ContiSportContacts, these have covered around 1500 miles since
  • One of the previous owners has also fitted a new exhaust back box
  • In 2017 it has some work carried out on the gearbox
  • There is so much history with the car it would be difficult to condense into words, you’ll find a lot of the paperwork has been photographed
  • It is now down to you to write the next chapter of this 930s life
  • These are only getting more desirable and collectable, this is your chance to acquire a beautifully looked-after example

The Interior

  • Marine Blue leather
  • Sports seats fitted
  • Electric and heated front seats
  • Rear seat belts fitted from the factory
  • Great condition
Popping open the doors of this 930 presents a perfectly preserved time capsule of an interior. Minus a modern, more user-friendly, radio/sound system the interior appears to be original. The leather sports seats fitted are in great condition. Over the years the leather has worn beautifully meaning that it is in very good condition today. Being the sports seats, they have large side bolsters that hold you snuggly in place should you be exploiting that turbo power. You’ll also be happy to hear that they are electrically operated and also heated.
In the rear, there are two smaller bucket-type seats. Fitted with seat belts from the factory they are ready to take 21st-century passengers. A little cool feature is that the seat behind the front passenger will fold down, revealing a Turbo motif in the carpeted back. On the floor, you’ll find a set of matching marine blue carpets with over mats. These are still in very good condition hiding their age well. Looking straight up from the carpets you can see that the headliner is still in very good condition. If we’re getting very picky there is some slight marking on the driver’s side door card around one of the dials, but this appears to be the only obvious area where it shows its age.
It is not only the seats that are electrically operated, but also both the front windows. Both operating as they should on the switch they are a nice modern touch. From the driver’s seat, you have a commanding view of that iconic bonnet. Sat in front of you is the instantly recognisable bank of Porsche dials. Showing information about your speed, revs, and various pressures these dials all appear to work as they should. The most important dial is that boost gauge and once the turbo comes on song this car squats down and disappears up the road.
Looking at a few smaller details dotted about such as the switch gear we can see that these buttons and knobs have been looked after. Opening the front boot, you’ll see that there has been one modification made, a strut brace. Put in to aid handling it looks like it was fitted professionally by the previous owner, who happened to be a mechanic. You’ll also find an original tool kit and space saver tyre. There are also original build stickers under the bonnet. Overall, the interior of this 930 is in great condition. You can hop straight in, whack your music on, and go for a memorable drive into the sunset.

The Exterior

  • Unmarked Fuchs alloys
  • Finished in Guards Red
  • External rubbers look great
  • Huge rear wing
  • Iconic styling
Sitting pretty in Guards Red this 930 screams 80s from every available angle. If we had to pick the best angle it has to be that the rear 1/4, the huge flared rear haunches, and the massive whale tail spoiler is the perfect package for a statement sports car, right?
Walking around the car you can tell that it has been the owner’s pride and joy, that paint is in excellent condition, the alloys are in great condition, and all of the black rubber elements show little to no sun bleaching. There is one small dent to the left of the Porsche badge on the bonnet, but you may be able to get this removed without needing to repair the paintwork.
On each corner you will find a two-tone Fuchs alloy, all of these alloys are presented in pristine condition with no curb damage. The current owner has also fitted a great set of matching Continental tyres that have covered little more than 1,000 miles. The astute Porsche enthusiasts may notice that it doesn’t have the original exhaust exit. Its factory single-side exit has been replaced by this symmetrical Supersprint system. It has also enhanced the sound a little bit making for an amazing soundtrack.
Overall, the exterior condition of this 930 is very good. This example could easily be parked up front at a Porsche show it is that good. Or you may just wish to stare and take in the muscular beauty of this 80s icon.

The Mechanics

  • Turbocharged 3.3l flat-six
  • Enhanced exhaust
  • New front brakes fitted 1,000 miles ago
  • Major service 1,000 miles ago
  • Lots of documented work
This is the section where this 911 shines, its turbocharged 3.3l engine helps to produce an unforgettable driving experience. When the current owner acquired the car, they sent it straight to Northway Porsche to get a major service completed. It also got a new set of front brakes and tyres. Thanks to this maintenance work this 930 is ready to go on some great drives. It must also be noted that when it has been stored, the battery has been disconnected and left on trickle charge.
On the day of the photos, the car started up first time with no excessive cranking. It was then taken on a short drive to get all of the temperatures and pressures where they should be. On the drive it was demonstrated to stop without pulling, and that the performance is still there. With few driving aids this is a proper old-school driving experience. As the revs rise you are just waiting for that big turbo to kick in, when you build up the right boost pressure you are pushed back into your seat and all the power is dumped at the rear wheels. It’s not one to be messed with, it will bite if you’re not paying attention. This uncensored driving experience is what makes this car so good, you will also get out with a smile on your face.
Looking through the paperwork you can see that this Porsche has been looked after by all of its previous owners. As it only shows 67,000 genuine miles on the odometer it has a lot left to give, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Summary

Today is the day you fulfill a childhood dream and meet your hero. You may have had a poster of this car on your wall, or you might have a hankering for a 1980s sportscar. Well, whatever you’re after, this Porsche 911 930 will tick all the right boxes.
It offers a raw driving experience that modern cars cannot offer. It takes unleaded petrol and turns it into unforgettable memories. You really can’t go wrong.
