The Appeal

The ultimate classic convertible? It's got to be the R107 SL. Mercedes-Benz's inimitable roadster enjoyed an unassailable eighteen-year production run, during which time it cemented a reputation as the best-engineered, most stylish and well-put-together convertible money could buy. To this day, it remains a compelling choice.

This 1987 300 SL was in previous ownership for 27 years, during which time it was consistently garaged, well-maintained and used very sparingly.

The vendor informs us:

"I have owned the car since April 2023. Since acquiring the car it has been recommissioned - steering adjustment, electric windows fixed, ignition issues sorted, clock repaired, 2 new tyres, new battery and gearbox service. It is always garaged. The only non-functioning items are the exterior temperature gauge and the alarm remote fobs. I have covered less than 1,000 miles in the car hence it is up for sale. There have been five previous owners. The owners have included a peer of the realm, a doctor and a retired company director. The previous owner only used the car sparingly and it was taken off the road during winter."

The car is being serviced on 12 March when it will also be MOT tested.
