The Appeal
The 928 is emerging from the 911’s shadow as enthusiasts rediscover its multifold abilities. In the annals of effortlessly powerful 2+2 GTs, the 928 can mix it easily with the very best from Ferrari, Aston Martin and Maserati.
The S4 gained the later 5litre version of the V8 - good for over 300bhp - plus some aesthetic and luxury trim improvements. These very well-built cars make excellent classics because they are so usable - and perfect for long-distance tours like the NC500 or across the Continent.
With interest growing, this 1986 S4 offers a tantalising opportunity for the enthusiast. It was bought by the seller in December as a project after 13 years in storage. In typical Porsche fashion it covered the 200 miles home without fault. He is now selling it as a project due to a change of circumstances.
Running, presentable, with a good interior and MOT to April 2024, it looks like the sort of project that could be chipped away at as you enjoy it.
