The Appeal
The 70s was an era like no other, especially in the automotive industry, the swinging 60s and their analogue cars were replaced by more modern, more economic variants. During this time of change, Porsche found themselves looking to adapt, the oil crisis had caused a disruption to their 911 sports car sales and with the competition introducing more fuel-friendly and luxurious options, they sought to produce a car that could act as both a comfortable cruiser and thrilling tourer.
Thus the 928 was born, a front-engined, wedge-shaped, futuristic car, very different from anything Porsche has produced so far. A water-cooled V8 engine was placed at the front instead of a flat-6 at the rear and the familiar Porsche curves were replaced by the fashionable wedge shape that so many others had adopted.
This automatic 1986 S2.5 model was built during the middle of the 928s production run and in that year the car saw a few alterations, upgraded suspension, larger 4-pot Brembo brakes plus a revised transmission. There were also revisions to the cylinder head and intake system, plus a simpler fuel injection and ignition controls. Finished in the rare Garnet Red Metallic, the car is in very good shape and is accompanied by a large folder of history, including invoices, receipts and MOT certificates.
The 4.7L V8 purrs wonderfully and will provide you with a gentle soundtrack as you roam from B road to motorway and back again plus its luxurious and comfortable interior means you’ll be able to enjoy the car without having to prepare yourself first. A great grand-tourer from the manufacturer that does it best.

Summary
The 928 was a break from tradition, a different kind of Porsche that took the manufacturer in a whole new direction. A front-positioned V8, packaged in a futuristic shell initially raised eyebrows but its fashionable design, deluxe interiors and delightful driving experience soon made it a favourite. This S2.5 is presented well, clearly benefiting from a cared-for life. Accompanied by a good amount of history, this car is an excellent choice for someone that wants to experience fun and thrills with a level of comfort.
