1986 Maserati Biturbo 2500

Photos provided by the seller

Highlights

  • Benefiting from having lived in Spain’s dry climate all its life
  • Original documentation, instruction booklet and invoices
  • One previous owner rom new
  • 42,055 kilometres recorded

The Appeal

‘80s classics are now very much coming of age, so what better time than the present to buy into this fabulous executive GT? Developed under Alejandro de Tomaso’s ownership of Maserati, the Biturbo was a major change in direction for the company and remains one of their most notable cars.
This 1986 pre-facelift example has lived in Spain most of its life, so has escaped the dampness and salty roads of Northern Europe. We’re informed that it has had just two owners from new and the 45,055 kilometres displayed on the odometer are believed to be correct. If you’re looking for a smart, original example, this would be a great vehicle to consider.

The History and Paperwork

  • Two owners from new
  • Retains its Spanish registration
  • Currently in Goch, Germany
  • Original documentation and instruction booklet
  • Accompanied by a collection of invoices detailing past work and servicing

The Interior

  • On the inside, everything appears very original
  • Light patination and an even level of wear throughout
  • Corduroy velour seats present well with some slight signs of use
  • Tan leather padding on the dashboard, door cards and centre console is in good condition
  • Some small blemishes to the leather in places but it remains really presentable overall
  • Factory-correct steering wheel with wooden rim
  • All the veneers appear in really good shape
  • The carpets and overmats look to be very serviceable
  • So far as we could see, the headlining remains smart
  • The Veglia clock appears to function as it should
  • Factory air conditioning
  • The instrumentation illuminates correctly and looks to be in great shape
  • Retains its original tool kit

The Exterior

  • Repainted in Dolomite White
  • Smart refinished paintwork with few blemishes
  • The bodywork appears straight and unhampered by corrosion
  • All the chromework and badging looks complete and in good order
  • The wheels are in really nice shape and are evocative of the era
  • The glass and light lenses all look in great condition
  • Underneath, the floorpans appear really sound
  • We couldn’t see any signs of corrosion to the underside

The Mechanics

  • 2.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6
  • Five-speed manual gearbox
  • Reportedly runs and drives well
  • No mechanical faults to report
  • All looks smart under the bonnet

Summary

This is a great Biturbo that has clearly been looked after really well all of its life. If you’re looking for some high-end ‘80s metal for your garage, this would be a fantastic candidate.
