The Appeal
Such was the global success of the original Land Rover that Spanish agricultural machinery manufacturer Metalúrgica de Santa Ana gained the License to build Land Rovers in 1961. Sold under the name ‘Land Rover Santana’, these off-roaders were in many ways quite different to their British counterparts, although they retained the Solihull DNA that made them supremely capable machines.
Here we have a very well preserved 1986 example. British Land Rover aficionados will note that it looks rather like the concurrent Land Rover 90, and yet it retains the Series III’s 88” wheelbase and leaf sprung suspension. First UK registered in May 2023, this Land Rover has been cherished by its two Spanish owners, using it for local journeys and so covering just 78,704 kilometres. With an advisory-free MOT valid until February 2024, this exceedingly original and well preserved Santana is ready to enjoy.
