The Appeal
This 944 represents a fine opportunity to purchase a classic Porsche in very good running and driving condition. Thanks to a whole host of recent reconditioning work, particularly on the inside of the car, it’s ready to be thoroughly enjoyed by its new owner.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered in November 1985
- Had the same owner since 2014, who has spent a great deal of money getting the car to its current high standard
- MOT certificate valid until August 2024
- Though it has been MOT tested every year since 2010, the car has covered less than 1,000 miles in that time
- Sizeable file full of invoices for parts and work completed over the last 9 years
- V5 log book present in the owner’s name
The Interior
- Burgundy interior including dashboard, carpets and cloth/leatherette seats
- Interior is in very good condition overall considering the age and mileage of the vehicle
- Seats bases and backs are in excellent shape with only some small nicks in the driver’s seat bolster to fault
- Top of the dashboard is in good order though there are some cracks on the section in front of the driver
- The rest of the dashboard and centre console is in nice condition with no major damage or scratches
- Gear lever and gaiter have seemingly been replaced with new items
- Small tear in the leather on top of the centre/console lid
- All switchgear is said to be functional and the switches themselves have held up well over the years aside from the usual wear to the icons on some of the buttons
- Speedo has been replaced with a good used item
- Door cards and grab handles in good condition
- Headlining and carpets are in very good condition
- Boot area is clean and tidy aside from what looks like a small blotch of yellow paint on the boot carpet which is otherwise in near-perfect order
- Clifford alarm fitted
- Electronic boot release switch is loose
The Exterior
- Bodywork nice and straight and in largely damage-free condition
- Lovely black paintwork is noticeably shiny and cleans up very nicely
- Glass is near perfect with no major scratches or damage
- Pop-up headlights function correctly and both head and taillight clusters are in good condition
- Sunroof works well thanks to replaced hinges/latches and cleaned-up electrical contacts
- While the alloy wheels are mostly free from kerb damage, some of the usual light corrosion is present
- Bonnet-mounted Porsche crest looks almost as new
- Underside is nice and straight with only the usual surface corrosion being evident
- Some minor chips and paintwork blemishes on the lower parts of the doors and sills
- Light scratches on the upper part of the tailgate
The Mechanics
- No major mechanical faults reported by the owner
- Engine and gearbox are in fine fettle with no known leaks or smoke from either
- Gearbox benefits from recently replaced gear linkage assemblies
- The car performs well on the road, revving freely and pulling well through the gears
- Steering and handling is said to be tight and enjoyable
- No knocks or bangs reported from suspension components
- All four tyres have plenty of tread left on them
- The MOT test in August 2023 noted advisories for binding on the front and rear brakes as well as corrosion to the front integral body structure
- There has never previously been an issue with corrosion
Summary
A very clean and mechanically sound example of the increasingly sought-after 944 in a desirable colour combination.
