The Appeal
In the mid 1980s every car manufacturer was rushing to slap GTI badges on its cars in the wake of the Golf’s success.
Peugeot was no different. Alongside the launch of a well known motoring icon, Peugeot launched another, less well known GTI – the 505.
Under a lightly sportified exterior there was a new 2.2litre motor whose 130bhp was more than enough to take the fight to rivals from BMW and Audi.
The world wasn’t quite ready for a big, quick Peugeot and sales of the firm’s alternative GTI were sluggish. That makes this exceptionally low mileage example a timewarp survivor, believed one of just three RHD road registered in the UK. Solid, very presentable and highly original right down to its magnificent blue velour interior, this is a rare treat for 80s saloon enthusiasts.
