Highlights
- Original interior, paintwork and decals
- Rover V8 engine rebuilt by the vendor
- Purchased from renowned specialists Black Paw 4x4
The Appeal
While Land Rover’s leaf sprung cars had served the company well for 35 years, pressure from overseas competition meant that by the early 1980s, more fundamental changes were needed and the 110 was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1983.
This early 110 County is pleasingly original and is fitted with the legendary 3.5-litre V8 engine which has recently been rebuilt by the vendor. Wearing a delightful level of patina on its original paintwork and interior, this Land Rover is a very usable example, the likes of which is seldom offered for sale.

- As an early 110, it retains the galvanised front bumper and cappings
- The bodywork is quite straight for an unrestored Land Rover of this vintage
- The most notable dent is in the nearside wing and there is a corresponding dent in the bumper
- The vendor has fitted Limestone Wolf wheels which are shod with Cooper tyres
- Also, the vendor has added period Hella spot lamps and blue wing mirror covers
- We’re informed that the rear crossmember was replaced some years ago by a land Rover dealer to the original chassis
- Surface rust evident on the chassis although it looks fundamentally sound
- The folding side steps and rear step are quite heavily corroded but appear operable
- Tow bar fitted
- Some corrosion to the nearside top corner of the bulkhead that does not appear excessive
- Little evidence of electrolytic corrosion and all five doors appear very sound
The Mechanics
- 3.5-litre Rover V8 engine recently rebuilt by the vendor
- LT 95 gearbox operates smoothly in high and low range
- The vendor has fitted new rear brakes and a diff guard gasket
- Reportedly drives really well following the engine rebuild and other recommissioning work
- Exhaust centre silencer removed to make the exhaust note louder
Summary
Early 110s such as this are the most usable classic Land Rovers, with the charm of Series earlier cars and the convenience of a more modern drivetrain and suspension. Few are as original as this one making it an excellent proposition for your garage.
