The Appeal

In the early 1980s Jaguar’s excellent XJS received a serious reboot. Quality improvements, aesthetic enhancements - including plenty of chrome and timber - plus efficiency tweaks to the V12 motor kickstarted a sales renaissance.

Then there was the XJ-SC, a clever evolution that gave buyers a versatile 2+2 cabriolet with the option of removable ‘targa’ roof panels or a more fulsome convertible arrangement. These cars are popular with modern enthusiasts because they are more rigid than the full convertible - so better to drive - and they are rarer too. Just 950 RHD V12s like this car were built.

Finished in smart Maraschino Black with a Doeskin leather cabin, it is very original - right down to the big, blocky Motorola car phone. Dry storage means that it has covered just 6,000 miles in the last 30 years. It is solid and presentable, with some scope for the buyer to invest in the cosmetics if required.

During 2024 the car has received a full service and new battery and it will be sold with a fresh 12 months MOT from October 2024.

Twin silver coachlines with some light deterioration to note
There are some points to note to paintwork such as stone chips as shown
Light marks and scuffs to note to exterior fittings as shown in photographs
Bodywork presents as solid with some light bubbling to certain panels
Sits on 15in lattice alloy wheels which appear to be aftermarket items
Lattice spare wheel in boot with spare wheel cover
Folding black canvas roof in fair condition with some minor points to note in photos
Supplied with hood bag for removable Targa panels
Roof operates with twin removable panels and separate folding rear section
Retains its trapezoidal headlights which show light fade to nearside unit
Exterior chromework complete and presentable with light marks to note in photos
Doeskin leather interior in fair condition with some marks and scuffs to note
Grey carpets in boot and beige in cabin in fair, lightly marked condition
Cabin veneers show some delamination as shown
