The Appeal
To the uninitiated, the words ‘Monospecchio’ and ‘Monodado’ may mean little. After all, they refer in Italian to a door mirror and single bolt alloy wheels. But to those in the know, they signify something quite special - an early Testarossa.
The first of Ferrari’s new 12-cylinder supercars were equipped with those two features. Less than 1,500 are believed to have been built before production switched to a more conventional arrangement in September 1986.
This 1985 car is a very early ‘Monospecchio’ that retains its single bolt wheels. The car arrived in the Netherlands in 1996. Since then it has been owned by renowned Dutch pianist Wibi Soerjadi before entering a high end private collection in 2015.
In recent years it has received a full respray and all five ‘Monodado’ wheels were restored, work that cost around €15,000. A major service and checkover was conducted in October 2023, which included the all-important timing belt and tensioner change.
With its provenance and its impeccably presented Rosso Corsa paintwork and Nero leather cabin, this car is ready for your collection. It comes to market with APK to January 2026.

The Testarossa was bold. With its crisp lines, wide stance and side strakes it was a serious departure from the BB512 that went before. It was a risk by Ferrari, but one that paid off because this car is a proper 80s icon and one that influenced a generation of the firm’s models.
For those reasons the early cars are revered by enthusiasts. They can be identified by the two features by which they are known - Monospecchio single door mirror and ‘Monodado’ single bolt wheels. These cars were built before September 1986.
This car retains both features - which are in excellent condition - and is finished in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa over black Nero leather. It is in superb condition, helped by a recent full respray and refurbishment of those valuable wheels. Inside the sense of preservation is impressive - you will be hard pressed to see signs of its 40 years.
The car is factory standard right down to the period correct radio.

It may be an icon, but the heart of any Testarossa is that sonorous 12cyl 4.9L engine. It is as much a work of art as a technical tour de force, so you will want it to look good and run properly. This car ticks both those boxes.
The engine bay is impressively detailed. The engine has covered few miles in its life and been well maintained by its high-end keepers. Recent work has included a full check over and major service in October 2023. Buyers will be reassured to know that the timing belt and tensioners were replaced at the same time. The car comes to market with a recently renewed APK certificate and no known faults.
