The Appeal
The Mulsanne Turbo has an important place in Bentley’s illustrious history. It was with this car, in 1982, that the firm’s fight back began. After two decades of badge-engineering, here, finally, was a distinctive and unique Bentley-branded model.
Naturally, it had a big Garrett turbo that upped power to around 300bhp. That ensured the Mulsanne Turbo, with its appropriate Le Mans-referencing name, fitted neatly into the lineage of powerful Bentley saloons.
Just 496 SWB cars were built and this is likely amongst the last. One of the 61 Mulsanne Turbos hand-crafted in 1985, it is classically finished in a British Racing Green-referencing metallic green with a complementary cream leather interior. It is in good, solid and presentable condition with some age-related marks.
Little used since the current keeper acquired it in 2018, it will require a fresh MOT and perhaps some recommissioning and checks before it hits the road again. It looks like a very good base for that work, giving the buyer an entertaining and rare sporting saloon to enjoy once done.

There are some light marks to note such as chips to door and arch edges
Bodywork is in good order across car with some age-related marks to note
These include an area of light bubbling to offside rear arch
Bodywork otherwise appears in good order with no obvious deterioration
Exterior fittings such as bumpers and trim well kept with no visible damage
Some trim elements such as rear badging show light tarnish but not unsightly
Sits on factory ‘Turbo’ alloy wheels which appear well kept and largely undamaged
Interior is very presentable and generally well kept with some patina to note
This includes deterioration to dashboard veneers but door veneers present well
Dashboard and console switchgear is presentable with some use marks to note
Carpets in mid green to match paintwork with contrasting cream piping
Carpets through cabin and boot generally presentable but boot showing some wear
Cream leather seats are upgraded Mulsanne Turbo versions in good condition
Leather appears supple and uncracked with generally very presentable finish
Driver’s seat shows inevitable bolster wear but it is light and not unsightly
Leather headlining in good order with no notable stains or marks
