The Appeal
A convertible with the handling of one of the greatest hot hatches of all time? That will be the Golf Mk1, a car that also throws four seat practicality and excellent engineering into the mix.
This tidy black 1,600cc GL would be perfect for the last sunny days of 2024. When it gets brought out again in Spring 2025 it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status, bringing MOT, tax and ULEZ exemption savings with it.
The interior has been retrimmed in checked cloth and leather and presents very well. Less visible is the work to the mechanicals. This includes new cambelt, water pump, battery, alternator, clutch and brake overhaul. It has been little used since and is said, by the vendor, to start and run very well.
