1984 Vintage Motor Company Badsworth Landaulette (Model A Evocation)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ex-wedding car with huge earning potential
  • Very smart, clean and well-presented
  • Simple Ford Sierra running gear
  • Bespoke build by Vintage Motor Car Company

THE APPEAL

At first glance, you could very easily mistake the Badsworth Landaulette for a 1930s vintage car, such is its traditionally old fashion styling, created to replicate the look of a 1930 Ford Model A.
Yet beneath the old school exterior looks a far more modern drivetrain. In this case, it's that of a 1984 Ford Sierra, converted by the Vintage Motor Car Company in Leeds in 2001. The car was supplied to the vendor as a wedding vehicle and has been used for that purpose for all of its life, racking up an average of 40 weddings per year over the past two decades. Consider that, and it's easy to see that this car has huge earning potential.
It's also in lovely condition, having been kept in tip-top order so that it could earn its keep every weekend.
After working the car for a living for quite some time, the vendor is now scaling back the wedding hire business and converting garage space to living accommodation, meaning that the Badsworth has to go. Whoever takes it on will have a ready-made business, or a car with vintage style and none of the complications that go with running a genuine 1930s car.

SUMMARY

This is something a bit different, insofar as it’s a car with plenty of vintage appeal but without any of the hassle of running a genuinely old touring sedan. To some buyers, that will be the core to its appeal as it's a comfortable, easy to own and easy to drive alternative to a bona fide vintage car.
Quite aside from that, though, the Badsworth still has huge earning potential and is more than ready to go back into business on the wedding circuit for 2023. It could well turn out to be a very good investment.
