The Appeal
As the final version of the long-lived and universally revered 40 Series Land Cruiser, the HJ47 holds a special place in Toyota history.
This right-hand drive 1984 HJ47 pickup was recently imported from South Africa, where the arid climate has been very kind to it. As the photographs attest, it's in lovely condition, retaining much of its originality while incorporating some desirable upgrades such as power steering and modern heating/air conditioning. The mechanicals have also been suitably upgraded, so the pickup now boasts a 12H-t 4.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine from an HJ61/ 60 Series VX and a five-speed manual gearbox from an HJ61/ FJ75.
This is a seriously capable old commercial and a model that's seldom found in the UK, let alone in such marvellous condition. Complete with a fresh 12 months advisory-free MOT (and soon to be exempt), it's ready to go.
