The Appeal
The XJS convertible may be much more numerous, but there are many reasons why you want one of the rare XJ-SC cabriolets. They are structurally stiff so handle well. They’re versatile - there is the option of Targa style or full convertible, and they have factory-fitted rear seats. And then there is that most appealing of XJS features, a manual gearbox.
It is a little-known secret that the XJS handles like a good GT car, a quality that the manual option releases. The XJ-SC also came with the highly regarded AJ6 straight-six engine, which is rated for its durability and smoothness. Oh, and Princess Diana had one.
These cars were built in small numbers so this Sage Green example’s arrival at auction is a treat for enthusiasts. It has been in the hands of the current keeper since 1996 and is in very good, original condition inside and out. The thick history file attests to the care of its keepers.
The current MOT runs to September 2025 with no advisories. This could well be the car’s last - it is eligible for Historic Vehicle status from 1st April 2025, which will make it MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt. Grab a great classic convertible
