The Appeal

Honda were nothing if not experimental! Over the years their engineers had stuck just about every engine layout on two wheels, but there was one that they kept turning back to - the V4. It was a big unit, and had...limited successes in the 70s. Do you think that kept the innovators down? Not a chance!

The VF400 basically tore up the book and made sure it sat in everybody's centre. Incredibly agile, with a remarkable red line of 12,500rpm, the bike nonetheless felt distinguished and proud on its feet; almost gentlemanly in its composure. This potent mix made it the bike for the connoisseur, and it's since become something of a legend.

This example has been comprehensively restored to a very high price ticket, and is now inviting you to enjoy the fruits of the restorer's labour. You'll be hard-pressed to find anything quite like it.

Calipers serviced
New Hagon adjustable shock absorber fitted
New chain and sprockets
Swingarm stripped and fitted with new bearings and seals
Swingarm links serviced with new seals, new rear wheel bearings
The vendor reports that this classic mount is in fine mechanical order
