The Appeal
The Citroën 2CV is a totemic symbol of France, its rugged simplicity symbolising the French peoples’ recovery from years of occupation. Such was its success following the Second World War, it would remain in production until 1990, changed very little during its lifespan.
For those wanting to carry more than one basket of eggs across a ploughed field without breaking them, Citroën would also offer a commercial variant. It became popular with small business, providing affordable, compact transportation for their wares and perfectly suited to Europe’s narrow medieval streets.
We’re pleased to offer one such example which began life in 1972. Reportedly supplied to Spain, this AKS 400 later underwent substantial mechanical upgrades, utilising the underpinnings from a 1984 2CV.
Following some time spent in Gibraltar, the van was imported to mainland Britain in 2007. It has been used to advertise several businesses in its lifetime and still wears the livery of a well-known Parisien restaurant, so you may well wish to make use of it for your own company’s advertising.
