THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- V5C Registration document
- First registered in the UK on the 11th June 1992
- The Spider S3 has a current MOT until 24th January 2024 with no advisories
- Odometer shows 89,079 miles
- The car is supplied with the original Owners Manual and US market booklet
- The Spider S3 comes with a good history file with a nice number of invoices documenting its maintenance from its early days in Florida
- There are also a good number of maintenance invoices from its time here in the UK
- The current owner acquired the Spider in 2015 and has had it looked after by an Alfa specialist in Kent, with numerous invoices on hand documenting its maintenance.
THE INTERIOR
- The Spider sports black leather seat which are in good condition with only a few marks and signs of wear present
- The rest of the interior is presentable with signs of use and wear as you would expect for a 39 year old classic
- The classic Alfa deep dish wood rim steering wheel is in nice shape with only a few marks present
- There is some cracking to the clear coat on the gear knob which is shown in the photos
- There is a crack on the dash which is shown in the photos. However the rest of the dash is in good shape.
- The carpets are in decent shape with some wear and tear evident on the drivers floor mat
- The seller states that all the gauges and dials work as they should
- They note that the radio currently doesn’t work
- Both electric windows work as they should
- The airconditioning, which is a rare feature on an S3 Spider, is said to work well and blows cold air. The seller adds that the heater works well too.
THE EXTERIOR
- This Veloce Spider is finished in classic Alfa Romeo red with a black convertible hood
- The paint presents well from a distance. However up close there is some micro blistering evident in the paint, along with some chips and scratches.
- The bonnet also has some oxidisation in the red paint, which may well polish out.
- The panels and shut lines are nice and straight. Overall the car is best described as a driver that can be used and enjoyed.
- The Veloce Spider is fitted with aftermarket alloys which are in good shape. An original Campagnolo alloy spare comes with the car and this was likely the style that was fitted to the car when new.
- There is surface rust evident in the boot floor pan which could do with being cleaned and treated
- In 2016 the convertible top was cleaned and recoloured in black. It presents well with only a few marks and signs of wear evident. The rear screen is also in good condition with some light marks and scratches. A black tonneau cover also comes with the car.
- The underside appears to be in good condition in the photos
THE MECHANICS
- 2.0 litre twin cam engine which is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox
- As this is a US market car it was fitted with Bosch fuel injection which the seller states works well
- The seller confirms the Spider goes very well down the road with good oil pressure and cruises comfortably on the motorway
- It was serviced on the 26th January 2023 at 88,996 miles. The rear brakes were also serviced at the same time.
- Vendor informs us that a new starter motor has been fitted.
SUMMARY
There is no denying the appeal of an Italian convertible, especially a head turner like an Alfa Romeo Spider. It is a timeless classic that looks as good today as it did in 1984.
