The Appeal
Here is the sort of unassuming hidden gem we admire at Car & Classic: a highly preserved Volvo 300 in resplendent original condition. The clincher is that it is a low mileage 360 with the bigger 2litre B200 engine and luxury GLS trim.
Despite the popularity in period of these safety-conscious hatchbacks, survivors today are in short supply. This stylish light metallic green example must be one of the best around and a future contender for Festival of the Unexceptional glory.
But it is far from unexceptional. The timewarp condition is remarkable. The boxy Volvo aesthetics are enhanced by a front spoiler and extra driving lights that lean into the model’s motorsport heritage.
This car recently qualified for Historic Vehicle status so is now usefully MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt. Whether you choose to shine and show it or enjoy it as a daily driver, it will be a treat for its second keeper in 41 years.
