The Appeal
The original 944 was a firm reboot of the 924 coupe. The bigger engine - essentially half of the 928’s V8 - and extra power meant buyers could properly exploit the choice underpinnings of this superbly balanced and very tactical sports car.
The svelte 924 profile also got a healthy shot of adrenaline, the track widening under big arches and spoilers arriving front and rear. These early cars make great classics and a perfect way into the world of Porsche ownership via a practical 2+2.
This tidy 1983 car benefits from a huge amount of work to the parts you cannot see. In 2020, the engine was overhauled, including head skim and gasket, cambelt and tensioner, water pump, new radiator and coolant flush. A fruity stainless steel exhaust was the final flourish.
More recently the electrics have been professionally worked on by Suffolk Classic Services.
The car is presentable but there is scope to make it better. It is now usefully MOT and tax exempt, giving you more funds to invest in the cosmetics.
