1983 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera

  • Partial paintwork and refinished interior
  • Technical inspection valid until May 2029

The appeal

Porsche has never stopped improving the original air-cooled 911. Among the many modifications, one of the most significant came in 1983 with the arrival of the 'practically new' 3,164cc engine and the return of the Carrera name.

These improvements made these faster cars very popular with enthusiasts. This is an early example, a 1984 model first registered by the famous Swiss dealer AMAG. It remained in Switzerland before moving to France with its fifth owner, then passing to the current owner in 2009.

Beautifully presented in white with the iconic 'whale tail', it clearly stands out, the aesthetic enhanced by a set of classic black Fuchs wheels. The history file reveals regular use and ongoing maintenance, including repainted front wings and bonnet and reupholstered front seats.

This matching numbers car is shown to be in excellent mechanical condition with no problems for the purchaser. The roadworthiness test valid until May 2029 attests to the condition. This is an elegant classic 911 with attractive specification that looks ready to drive.

Condition

  • Striking white paintwork that is predominantly original
  • Front wings and bonnet repainted to rectify stone chips
  • The paintwork shows well in photographs with no significant marks
  • Due to its age and original character, buyers should expect a certain amount of patina
  • The bodywork looks good, with neat arches, sills and panels
  • Fitted with the iconic optional 'whale tail'.
  • Mounted on 16-inch factory Fuchs alloy wheels in good condition showing only light marking
  • Quality Michelin Pilot tyres fitted all round, looking fairly new and little used
  • Steel spare wheel in front boot
  • Dark blue interior with blue dashboard and cloth seats
  • The interior is very well maintained and appears mainly unmodified and largely original
  • Fitted with three-spoke racing steering wheel with Sabelt suede rim
  • Front seats reupholstered in correct original fabrics to a good standard
  • Few signs of wear on interior surfaces
  • Extensive technical inspection confirms structural condition

Alongside red, white is perhaps the colour most associated with this era of the 911. Looking at this elegant car, you can see why. It's resplendent, the paintwork nicely accented by black detailing on the spoilers, bumpers, trim and, of course, the stunning Fuchs wheels. The optional 'whale tail' is a neat and much sought-after touch.

This car has clearly been well looked after. The paintwork is predominantly original, with the exception of repainting the front wings and bonnet to rectify a few stone chips. The bodywork is also well maintained, with the arches, rocker panels and door bases in excellent condition.

Inside, there is a rare dark blue interior with cloth seats. It's mostly original - with the exception of the Sabelt suede-rimmed steering wheel - and benefits from refreshed seats that have been reupholstered with correct factory materials.

Powertrain

  • 3,164 cm³ Porsche flat-six engine
  • 5-speed manual gearbox
  • Factory tool kit
  • Listed as a matching numbers car
  • Good record of regular ongoing maintenance
  • Seller reports that the car has no mechanical problems or faults
  • Current MOT to May 2029, including mechanical inspection

From 1983, the 911 received a larger 3.2L version of the flat six engine - reported to be 80% refreshed - which pushed power beyond the 200bhp mark.

The seller tells us that the car is a matching numbers model and comes with a full history file. He says there are no mechanical problems or faults to report to the buyer. A long-term technical inspection certificate reinforces the impression of a very well-maintained Carrera.
