The Appeal

In the 1980s if you wanted your C126 SEC to display a little more pizzazz, you went to Lorinser. The firm’s body kits were purposeful without sacrificing the understated, handsome lines of Mercedes-Benz’ brilliant GT.

As this car shows. To the Lorinser kit is added blackening of the chrome trim and badges, a neat detail that gives this big coupe a sense of light menace. Its an impression aided by the Anthracite grey metallic paintwork, lightly lowered suspension and those lovely AZE five spokes.

The car has clearly been looked after by its sextet of keepers, the current one since 2021. The bodywork is in good condition, particularly in the areas you should check on these cars, and the beige leather cabin is similarly well preserved.

The car is now eligible for Historic Vehicle status, making it MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt. But it carries a usefully long MOT whose advisory-free status supports the impression provide by the photos. Good C126s, particularly the big-engined models like this one, make excellent touring companions. This one’s exclusive spec adds to the appeal.
