The Appeal
The 'Shooting Brake' sees origins in the 1890s, would you believe. Effectively the grandfather of the estate car, these long-wheelbase vehicles featured large rear bays to carry gun racks, ammunition, hunting spoils and the odd deer carcass. It was a privilege that the wealthy enjoyed near exclusively - and naturally, the equipment it required usually meant the requirement of a big, well-built chassis.
It's of little surprise, then, that most 'Shooting Brakes' were built upon the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, who continue to monopolise the market today, nearly a century-and-a-half later. That's not all, mind - many different coachbuilders over the decades have taken on base cars and built them into the ever-illustrious format. One such company was Coway of Westhoughton, Lancashire - who built twelve of these unusual, angular-backed vehicles.
Picked out in a striking Mustard over Claret, this remarkably finished car is a headturner, sure - but it's still a Bentley. That means below the bonnet is the same, highly regarded twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant and, inside the cabin, incredible luxury that matches up to the eyecatching paintwork in a very able manner.
Alongside the obvious body modifications, this handsome car's retrimmed cabin includes high-quality hides, a DVD player, parking sensors, Blaupunkt multidisc CD/Radio, navigation hardware and two umbrellas.
