The Appeal

Jeremy Clarkson is without a doubt the most successful motoring journalist and presenter of all time. He’s driven just about everything and, frankly, he could drive any car that takes his fancy…
He drives a 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6.
So what makes these cars so special? Well, a GTV6 is to Alfa Romeo the four-wheeled equivalent of a ‘Greatest Hits’ album. Its Giugiaro-penned styling borrowed from the achingly pretty Montreal, the transaxle layout offered unparalleled balance in the bends, and under the bonnet lies one of the most glorious internal combustion engines of all time - the Busso V6.
Now’s your chance to buy one just like Mr Clarkson’s.
This 1983 GTV6 2.5 has to be among the most original of the right-hand drive UK market survivors. It’s bristling with delightful period details and sports a rich age-commensurate patina throughout. It’s received an immense amount of work during recent years, with several significant invoices attesting to major mechanical servicing and of course, (this being an ‘80s Alfa), the odd professional welding repair.

In 2023 it benefitted from £7,000 of mechanical and engine work by transaxle specialist Alex Jupe Motorsport, which has known the car for many years.

The current MOT runs until June 2025 and is advisory-free, so this GTV6 can be enjoyed straight away. We think it would be an excellent candidate for further improvement or perhaps rolling restoration. Whatever the future holds for this car, we’re sure it will continue to put a smile on the faces of all who get behind the wheel.
