The Appeal
Yeah, we know you've heard it a million times. "You're not a real petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa Romeo..." Sure, it's an overused cliché, but we have to concede that it's probably true. These Milanese marvels have a singular habit of working their way under your skin, and of all the models over the years, there's perhaps no Alfa more Alfa-ry than a GTV6.
Based upon the transaxle Alfetta platform, the GTV boasts pretty fastback styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro and is powered by one of the most glorious V6 engines of all time: Giuseppe Busso's V6, "the Violin of Arese."
This 2.5-litre 1983 example is the facelifted version, more angular and less chrome-laden than its predecessor, as was the fashion during the 1980s. Affectionately named “Mia", this GTV has undergone significant recommissioning, with £18,000 invested by Alex Jupe Motorsport in 2019. The comprehensive work included a full engine rebuild, suspension overhaul, and the installation of a stainless steel exhaust system.
The car also boasts tasteful upgrades including a the AJM Handling Kit, a set of 16” Compomotive alloy wheels, leather upholstery and a mahogany steering wheel.
Both tax and MOT-exempt (although complete with an advisory-free test for peace of mind) this lovely Alfa gets us very excited.

- Very presentable inside and out
- Straight-looking bodywork with good door fit and panel alignment
- Bodywork generally sound with some attention needed on the rear driver-side wheel arch following a historic repair that's now failed
- The vendor notes some general patina to the paintwork with some stone chips, bubbling, and also flaking to the front bumper
- Minor bubbles forming around the passenger side lower door, rear arch, and sunroof
- Sunroof has some scratches from before purchase
- Underside reportedly free of corrorion and undersealed
- Compomotive wheels in fair condition, with one wheel having marks from liquid contact
- Tastefully upgraded with cream leather interior, mahogany steering wheel, custom carpet, Italian flag gear lever/handbrake gators and tailored "Tricolour" mats
- Cream leather interior with Recaro-style seats and matching door cards
- The cabin electrics are reportedly functioning well, except for front headlamp washers and an intermittent speedometer fault
- Radio cassette has a tape stuck in it, with plans to fix or replace with another period unit before sale
- We're informed that the winner of the auction will also have first refusal of some incredibly rare rear wheel arch repair panels, which they was able to source from Europe
