The Appeal

It’s one of the great moments in Alfa Romeo design, when perfect balance is reached between class and sporting qualities”.
That’s how Alfa described the restyled GTV 2.0 in their 1980 brochure.
Feted by the motoring press for Giorgetto Giugiaro’s stylish teardrop design. The 50:50 weight distribution provided by the rear transaxle, along with in-board rear discs and De Dion rear suspension deliver superb handling. Coupled with the 2.0-litre version of Alfa’s classic alloy ‘Nord’ twin-cam engine, fed by a pair of twin-choke side draught carburettors, it’s a joy to drive on A roads.
The owner of this 1983 GTV 2.0 was inspired by their brother owning a similar Alfetta GTV in the 1980s, fuelling interest in Italian cars, and Alfa Romeo in particular. In 2015, they became the proud owner of this superb example.
The car has since made numerous appearances at owner’s club shows across northern England and Scotland. As well as twice making the 500 mile round trip to Bicester for National Alfa Day. Most recently it appeared alongside 30 others for a special gathering to mark the 50th anniversary of the Alfetta GT/GTV.
With a thriving enthusiast community and great availability of spare parts from companies such as EB Spares and Classic Alfa, there’s never been a better time to add one of these cars to your garage. As a 1983 model, this GTV has recently passed its 40th birthday, meaning it’s exempt from road tax and MOT, as well as ULEZ compliant. Voluntarily submitted for MOT testing resulting in an advisory-free pass, this Alfetta GTV 2.0 is ready to enjoy.
