Put simply, the MK1 Volkswagen Golf is one of the most important cars ever built. This classic hot-hatch was hugely influential, and still a household name today. With handsome Giugiaro-penned lines, perky performance and practical, easy-to-handle mechanics, the Golf was always a sure-fire shot at success - and ended up selling over 6 million units.

This Golf comes to us in sharp order, having been resprayed and retrimmed. Originally based in the sunny climes of Croatia, this car's fine condition defies its mileage - and will no doubt make a very desirable car for any enthusiast. A good Golf is the stuff of legend, and we're sure this one will attract plenty of admiring glances.

The arches are solid, which is reportedly consistent throughout the underside
Internally, the cabin's in very good order
The front and back seats are re-trimmed
Door trim is okay, but one door mould might need replacing
Dashboard carries some light marks
All instruments look in good order
No music player currently fitted
Carpets and headlining in good overall order

The Mechanics

1.3L I4 powerplant
Manual transmission with 4 gears
Engine bay in good order
The vendor tells us that the car starts, runs, and brakes nicely
No unusual noises or mechanical issues have been reported
The exhaust might have a small hole in the middle and may need replacement
Other than this, though, it appears to be in very good mechanical order
