Under the direction of Alejandro De Tomaso, Maserati abandoned the various original Citroën systems fitted to its cars, a legacy of its previous French owners. Whereas the Quattroporte II shared its powertrain with the Citroën SM with front-wheel drive and hydropneumatic suspension, the Quattroporte III was inspired by the Kyalami. It uses a more conventional propulsion system, suspension geometry inspired by the Jaguar XJ, a V8 engine with twin camshafts and conventional power steering. The design by Giorgetto Giugiaro influenced the aesthetics of many future Maserati models.
Produced in just 2,145 examples, we are delighted to offer one of the most original models still in existence. This 1982 version with 4.9-litre engine has been in the care of its current owner since December 2018 and has benefited from extensive work, including a complete overhaul of the cylinder head. It is fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox with reverse gate, ideal for its grand touring capabilities.
If you're a Maserati collector or passionate about the marque, you'll know how rare these cars are, especially in such original, ready-to-run condition.
