The Appeal
Long-distance motorcycle touring was becoming increasingly popular during the 1970s and books like ‘Jupiter’s Travels’ by Ted Simon chronicled the lives of those for whom motorcycle globetrotting was a way of life. Capitalising on this craze, manufacturers like Yamaha and Honda began developing enduro bikes, like the XT500 and XL500 respectively.
Here we have the latter, a Honda XL500R which is in very good original condition. The vendor acquired it around three years ago from a UK-based specialist and has kept the bike in running order. It’s sat unused in dry storage throughout their tenure, so now the time has come for it to find a new home. Offered without a V5C or UK road registration, this would be a great bike for off-road riding, or else, for the next owner to apply for a logbook and hit the road.
