The Appeal
The Mk3 Capri gave buyers more purposeful aesthetics, but the car’s simple, engaging fun factor remained firmly intact. Light, nimble and rear wheel drive, the Mk3 was perfect for circumnavigating roundabouts sideways or bashing through boxes. While many buyers gravitated to the maturer V6-engined cars, afficionados valued the Pinto-powered 2litre S for its combination of sweet-revving immediacy and light handling. These cars telegraphed their intent with purposeful ‘S’ decals and vibrant tartan interiors.
This lovely ’82 2litre S retains both those desirable features as well as a recent refresh to its Venetian Red bodywork. Extensive history confirms the care of its owners, as does a long advisory-free MOT to August 2024. That is a useful addition because the car is now MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt by year. These S models are becoming vanishingly rare and this one looks factory standard and delectable.
