Highlights
- Prepared for rally-raid events
- Offered as a roadworthy project
- Fantastic potential for events such as the Dakar Classic or the Rally of Tunisia
The Plus
The V8-powered Range Rover Classic was the forerunner of high-performance off-roaders, making it a competitive vehicle ready to tackle the first editions of the dreaded Dakar Rally (Paris-Dakar at the time). Range Rovers won the event in 1979 and 1981, and were so popular that no fewer than forty Range Rovers took part in the 1985 edition!
The seller was inspired to buy this 1981 Range Rover Classic, an iconic rally raid vehicle from that era, and prepared for the race in 1988. Although it underwent some mechanical work in 2007 and is currently in working order, this example now needs some restoration work before it can take on long-distance events.
If you want to take part in the Dakar Classic or any other historic event, this Range Rover would undoubtedly be the right vehicle for the job.
