The Attractions

During the 1970s, the famous Argentine industrialist Alejandro De Tomaso acquired a considerable number of prestigious Italian companies. Although he caused quite a stir when he took control of Maserati in 1975, shortly before he had already acquired two famous Italian motorbike manufacturers, Benelli and Moto Guzzi. Under De Tomaso's leadership the two companies were merged, and one of the most interesting motorbikes produced during this period was the Moto Guzzi/Benelli 254, the smallest 4-cylinder 4-stroke in production at the time, at just 231 cc, which therefore needed to be 'pulled', i.e. taken to high revs, all the time.

The engine offered an impressive 28 horsepower, making the 254 one of the fastest sub-250cc bikes on the road.
This 1981 model looked fantastic and had a futuristic design for the time, with moulded ABS bodywork and tank-mounted instruments. Although its very high original price limited its commercial success. In fact, this motorbike has become a much sought-after collector's item. This particular example has been very carefully preserved in a private collection, and is therefore in excellent condition. With all the necessary export documents ready and with professional assistance available for shipping, this motorbike represents a valuable opportunity for collectors.
