1981 Lambretta GP200

Highlights

  • Historic vehicle
  • Fabulous 70’s Orange colour scheme
  • Engine rebuilt during renovation

The Appeal

Made from 1969 to 1971, the Grand Prix series, comprising the 125, 150 and 200, were the last new Lambrettas introduced by Innocenti before the factory closed in 1972.
Through the 1960s, Lambrettas were gradually being made slimmer and sportier, and the delicate touch of Bertone resulted in a very sleek look for the GP200, featuring a rectangular rather than round headlight to modernise its appearance.
Following the closure of the Lambretta factory they were subsequently manufactured by Scooters India Ltd (SIL) virtually unchanged, keeping the classic styling and engine but with an improved and strengthened frame to cope with the uneven and rough Indian roads.
With the SIL closure in 2021 the desirability and collectability should see prices increase over the coming years.
