The Background

The Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was a luxury car manufactured by Cadillac from 1977 through to 1986. From 1987 until 1992 the name was shortened to the Brougham. They were one of the most luxurious models of Cadillac on offer at the time and came with many extras.

The History

The current owner took ownership of the vehicle in 2016 and its had 4 previous owners. Most notably of which is Cynthia Lennon , John Lennon's first wife. Cynthia and her partner owned and used it in the Isle of Man.

The current owner is looking to downsize his holdings and so the big caddy is up for sale.

The Paperwork

The car comes with a number of authentic documents pertaining to its US life and also when it was exported to the Isle of Man and back again. There are a number of receipts present for works undertaken and also several pieces of Cadillac Literature pertaining to the model. Many original sales brochures and multi volume workshop manuals included

There is also paperwork relating to the fact that it was owned by Cynthia Lennon and her husband at some point, included is a photo article from Hello magazine showing Cynthia Lennon and the car.

The car has a current MOT and next year should soon be exempt from MOT and road tax.

The Interior

The interior is a classic 80s velour in a biscuit colour, it contrasts well against the wine red exterior colour.

The seats are typical of a Cadillac from this era, they are huge and very soft, they are also in great condition as is the interior overall , from the wood panelling to the plastic and metal switches. It’s a comfy place to be as the Fleetwood wafts along. A new headlining has been fitted by the present owner

There is a working 8 track stereo in the vehicle and the current owner has had a number of 8 track tapes refurbished for use in the stereo , these will also come with the vehicle.

The Exterior

The outside of the vehicle is in straight condition with some areas needing attention.

The rear number plate section and top of the rear bumper shows some wear and there is a small plastic cover absent on the drivers side lower front wing, though it does come with the vehicle, it's just not fitted. There is also some fading of the paint on the top of the rear wings and the sunroof looks to have had a leak at some point in the past.

The vinyl roof covering is in good condition. The chrome work is in decent condition and the wheels have white wall tyres fitted with the original hubcaps.

The Mechanics

The car starts on the button and the 4.1 litre Buick V6 is nice and smooth. It has an auto transmission with column shift and it changes gear smoothly.

There are no untoward noises, knocks and bangs, it rides well. Included are two original plug in diagnostic system tools which are now almost impossible to obtain. They have not been currently tested by the vendor. This is also pictured.

The Appeal

The 1980s Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is a luxury cruiser that has the classic long nose short tail shape and the wallowy suspension capable of soaking up any large bumps in the road resulting a very smooth ride.
This particular model is the 4.1 Litre V6 which is marginally more economical than the V8 version.
If your after a slice of 80s Americana this car has it all, luxury interior, the right Cadillac looks and an 8 track stereo, oh and also the fact it was owned by a celebrity only adds to its provenance.
