The Appeal

If you’re a seasoned trials rider, you’ll know exactly what this motorcycle is. RS200s are ultra-rare and highly rated as one of the very best classic twin-shock trials bikes.

The vendor recounts:

“These were special and produced in Japan and prototypes before the better-known TLR range. A top-flight competition machine aimed at expert riders, Honda's RS 200 TS trials iron was a limited-edition model handmade in relatively small numbers by the company's racing department, RSC (Racing Services Corporation) which subsequently became HRC (Honda Racing Corporation).

"Its introduction in 1979 followed a long and difficult development programme that had begun back in the early 1970s when Honda decided that to capture a major slice of the expanding market for trials motorcycles it would have to produce one capable of success at the highest level. Today, survivors of this limited-edition model are relatively rare and highly sought after, all the more so in this condition.”

As you’ll no doubt have gleaned from the photographs, the Honda is a superlative survivor in about as good condition as you could ever hope to find. Trials bikes often live hard lives and are frequently dropped, but this one has been expertly restored to an incredible standard. We understand it to be in good running, riding order, ready to grace any collection, and hopefully take part in some historic trials competition.
