The Appeal

Yes, the Land Rover is brilliant. That’s a given. But it’s arguably the Land Cruiser that has put wheels beneath people anywhere in the world who need to go anywhere on earth.

The Land Cruiser owed a big debt to its British forebear, that much is clear when you look around this fully restored FJ45. It is a rugged pick up with the torquey and ultra reliable 4.2L straight six diesel motor.

Before arriving in the UK in 2021 it spent its life in the dry climate of South Africa. Following importation the current keeper has undertaken a comprehensive yet sympathetic renovation that respects its originality but makes it ideal for modern use.

We are told - but cannot verify - that the displayed kilometerage of 32,389 (20,125 miles) is genuine. Certainly the condition of the original features suggests it has had an easy life. With work to the clutch, brakes, suspension and wheel bearings, it is in great mechanical order and ready to use. A high quality Rhino winch adds to the versatility.

This is the sort of classic vehicle you could easily justify as a work truck. Or alternatively simply enjoy it as a great example of Toyota’s iconic 4x4.

Paintwork has light signs of ageing as shown due to originality
No obvious marks or scuffs to cabin paintwork
Black rear pick up structure and side steps in good order with light aging
Tread plate trim to rear pick up sides and back
Supplied with large aluminium lockable storage box in pick up bed
Bodywork in good order with no obvious dents or damage
Exterior glasswork and lights present well with evidence of some new parts fitted
Underside presents well with no structural issues reported
Black wheels in good condition with all terrain tyres fitted with matching spare
Front Rhino winch recently fitted and also supplied with rear tow bar
Original interior with three seats in grey vinyl in good general condition
Cabin is unmodified and original with some light patina as shown in photos
