The Appeal
While it may be a little funny to think back now, the Honda CB750 came under a little criticism when it first hit British shores. As well-engineered and reliable as it was, it was a heavy old thing, and couldn't quite compete with the handling of, say, Triumph's product range.
Rickman stepped in and gave the bike a new lease of life - offering a top-quality Café Racer kit, their first ever to hit the market. It was an impressive sales pitch; lightweight and capable, with a bright orange 29-litre fibreglass tank seat and fairing and a Reynolds chrome frame. It lowered the stance of the bike, offered superior handling - and could reportedly transform the CB750 in about six-and-a-half hours.
This fabulous example has undergone a complete nut-and-bolt rebuild and rebore - leaving it uprated to 838cc and in utterly resplendent order. The bike has done only two miles since the restoration was completed, and it's accompanied by comprehensive documentation of the work undertaken - over 200 photographs and invoices totalling over £14,000.
