The Appeal
For 82 years the 4/4 defined what a Morgan sports car was. It did change, but not too much, which was just fine with buyers. And just as well - it has never varied from the classically styled, engaging-to-drive formula that makes it so popular.
The 1600 model adopted Ford’s Kent Crossflow engine from ‘68. Power was gradually increased to the 96bhp of this 1980 model. It is one of the last few hundred built and has been in the hands of the current keeper since 1982.
Beautifully finished in burgundy red, it has exceptionally good provenance. The thick history file is very impressive. It shows regular scheduled and preventative maintenance throughout the car’s life, with lots of bills from every decade of its life. The most recent work includes servicing, new alternator, a replacement heater matrix, and work to the brakes. The differential and gearbox oil have also been replaced.
The condition is a further reflection of the current keeper’s fastidiousness. The car presents very well - inside and out - for a 44 year old car. This car has clearly been loved and now looks perfect for a similarly enthusiastic and perfectionist owner.
