The Appeal

From 1974, the MGB gained rubber bumpers - an essential revision to meet US safety standards but one that compromised the car's handsome looks. These later cars were great to drive though, so for a time, that left enthusiasts with a conundrum...

To put it simply, early MGBs looked better while later MGBs drove better. But thanks to clever chrome bumper conversion kits to backdate the appearance of rubber bumper cars, you can now have the best of both worlds.

This 1980 MGB GT has undergone a recent chrome bumper conversion and looks fantastic as a result. The front suspension has been set to the ride height of the earlier cars and poly-bushed - ensuring this is one of the best-handling Bs you'll find.
A great deal of recent work also includes a new clutch slave cylinder, fuel gauge, battery, and the fitment of electronic ignition. The new stainless steel exhaust and K&N filters ensure it sounds as good as it looks. With a fully working overdrive, long-distance cruising is also a possibility making this a great GT as well as B-road conquering sports car.

The car has been garaged and comes with a new (voluntary) 12-month MOT, offering peace of mind for the next owner.
