The Appeal
When Supertune opened its doors in Croydon in 1966 it gave scooter enthusiasts something totally new. Alongside the usual performance tweaks, a Supertune scooter was instantly recognisable by its distinctive colour scheme.
It’s a theme that this Lambretta has firmly leaned into during its extensive restoration. It looks magnificent, the red and turquoise colour scheme neatly accented by Supertune logos and an orange mudguard flash. Details like the black Snetterton-style seat and Dez Askill rack show the restorer’s fastidious approach.
As you might expect of such a recent, extensive restoration, it is in superb condition - this is a scooter you could simply admire as a static display. But we know you won’t want to do that because, like those Supertune originals, this replica’s mechanicals have also been carefully enhanced.
Gone is the original GP150’s engine, in its place a brand new 200cc unit. It is so new that it will still need to be run in. The exhaust has been upgraded to an AF Rayspeed Clubman unit, and the electrics converted to 12V CDI.
This scooter evokes a glorious, carefree cage. The joy of it is that it goes as well as it looks. One for discerning collectors not to miss.
The vendor says:
“Riding the Lambretta GP is a nostalgic and fun experience, blending classic scooter charm with solid performance. Its 198cc engine provides enough power for zippy acceleration and a comfortable top speed, making it ideal for city commuting and leisurely rides. The lightweight design and compact frame make it highly manoeuvrable, offering smooth handling in tight spaces and traffic.
“While the drum brakes and simple suspension system aren’t as refined as modern counterparts, they still provide a reliable and enjoyable ride on well-maintained roads. Overall, the GP 200 offers a perfect mix of vintage style, practicality, and a playful, engaging riding experience.”
