The Appeal
The E23 was developed to compete with Mercedes-Benz and its much-loved S-Class. That was no small feat in a period when Merc were still topping the charts for luxury cars, but the handsome, shark-nosed, and driver-focused E23 managed to provide a very tangible, capable competitor.
Beyond being an incredibly beautiful car thanks to Paul Bracq's fine design, it offered sublime comfort and a time-honoured swathe of 6-cylinder powerplants that would make it an executive car for the ages, and amongst the best respected of BMW's luxury offerings to this day.
This excellent sedan has been very well looked after. It's been kept in dry, insulted storage since 2016, and has only ever been used for classic rallies and shows in dry weather. The result is a highly desirable retro classic in solid order.
