The Appeal
Perhaps the vehicle that least requires an introduction, the VW Camper is one of the most influential and recognizable vehicles of all time. Often referred to as the “hippie van”, VW campers are widely regarded as the perfect vehicle to explore the roads with and have developed an enormous following across the globe. With the sun beginning to shine, there’s truly no better vehicle to embark on an adventure with.
The History and Paperwork
- Well maintained
- Extensive history
- Invoices for key maintenance
- V5C document present
- Low mileage for its age, supported by previous MOT certificates
- Haynes workshop manual
- 2 keys
As the V5C document will reflect, this Volkswagen originally began life as a delivery van and was later converted to a campervan by a previous owner. The van suits the camper lifestyle, and now shows off a well-designed interior, complete with items like a fridge, gas hob, sink, and bed.
Over the years, the van has been enjoyed by 9 previous owners, and clearly benefits from years of care and maintenance. Now, this quirky camper is ready to find a new home, where it will no doubt continue to be a trusty companion out on the open road.
In terms of paperwork, the vehicle comes with a large array of previous invoices, which detail crucial items of servicing and maintenance, along with the typical consumables. Items of significance include invoices for the dynamo to alternator conversion, chassis welding, interior upholstery, and much more. In addition to a great selection of invoices, the paperwork also includes previous MOT certificates, which help validate the vehicle’s mileage figure.
Also included is a Nextbase entertainment kit, which is believed to work in tandem with the two installed televisions, although the entire system is yet to be figured out. The V5C document is also present and ready for the new owner, who will also receive the pictured Haynes workshop manual.
The Interior
- Re-trimmed interior
- Excellent condition
- Perfect for camping
- Equipped with a fridge, gas hob, sink
- Plenty of storage space
- Aftermarket speakers & Nextbase entertainment system
The interior of this lime-green camper is in excellent condition and shows off over £1800 worth of custom upholstery. To match the inspired exterior colour combination, the van was given a new ivory interior in 2007, complete with green stripes and piping. There are still remnants of the original interior though, such as the headliner, which remains clean and tidy even after all this time.
As the vehicle has covered very few miles since its interior overhaul, it should come as no surprise that both front seats are in excellent condition, with very few signs of wear. Although they now sport snazzy new material, the actual seats underneath are indeed believed to be original and remain very comfortable. The rear seat & bench appear to have seen less use and look absolutely fantastic.
In true Camper fashion, the cabin of this VW is packed with all of your road trip essentials, including a fridge, sink, gas hob, removable table, and foldable bed. All appliances are in full working order and run off the vehicle’s separate leisure battery. The only unknown factor with the interior is how to use the two Nextbase screens mounted in the rear. If the lucky new owner wishes to keep these screens, this is likely a simple fix. The pop-up roof would also benefit from a new front bracket, in order to remain upright.
Overall, this is a very characterful interior, which shows off a fun balance of re-trimmed details and original Volkswagen trim pieces. It’s clean, has been well cared for, and is packed with everything you’d need for an enjoyable trip away.
The Exterior
- Lime green and white exterior
- Iconic retro T2 styling
- Great condition for its age
- Bay window example
This Camper is certainly a head-turner and never fails to attract attention wherever it goes, partially due to its hilarious klaxon-style horn, and of course, its striking exterior.
The exterior is in great condition for the vehicle’s age but is beginning to show signs of rust bubbling in a few areas as pictured. The current owner would also like to make buyers aware of a slight defect found towards the bottom of the sliding side door, which is likely the result of a previous repair. All trim pieces and details around the vehicle are also in excellent condition for their age, only appearing to show the very earliest signs of age and wear.
All 4 wheels are in superb condition and contrast brilliantly against the lime green paintwork. Given how few signs of age these wheels show, it is rather likely they’ve experienced a refurbishment in the past, and have been well cared for since. Buyers will also have plenty of tyre tread to enjoy upon purchase, and the spare wheel ready for emergencies of course.
Overall, the exterior of this Volkwagen still looks excellent despite a few minor areas of age, and will certainly fill the new owner with pride upon each glance. These campers are typically adored for their patina and characterful exterior, but this example could easily be brought back to its full glory without much hassle or cost.

- Dynamo to alternator conversion
- Electric windscreen wash pump
- Needs nothing to be enjoyed
- Klaxon horn
- 12v Split Charge Relay Kit with 140amp Intelligent Voltage Sense Relay
- New main battery
- New leisure battery
There’s nothing better than the sound of a characterful air-cooled engine, especially once that performs as healthily as this example. The vehicle fires up without issue, and happily idles away, awaiting your next direction. Fitted with a twin-carb setup, and an alternator conversion, this VW has proved to be an enjoyable & dependable ally on the road and still performs admirably to this day.
Should the new owner wish to preserve a small piece of originality, the original dynamo will also be included with the vehicle at the point of sale, but will likely require some attention to return to working order.
In addition to the alternator conversion, this Camper also features key upgrades such as an electric windscreen washer pump. Those familiar with the original system will welcome the electric upgrade, which is a vast improvement over the temperamental and dated manual pump. This VW has also been fitted with a 12v Split Charge Relay Kit, complete with a 140amp Intelligent Voltage Sense Relay. This ensures both the main battery and leisure battery remain at optimal charge levels.
As the extensive paperwork will reflect, the vehicle has certainly been well-cared for by the current and previous keepers. As a result, this Camper has no known mechanical or electrical faults, ensuring peace of mind for the lucky new owner.
