Highlights
- Restored some seven years ago
- Bright blue paintwork with white roof and bumper
- Wood board interior with ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ bed
The Appeal
An icon of the counterculture movement, the Volkswagen Type 2 was equally at home on leisure trips as it was being used for commercial purposes. They’ve become as essential to the 60s and 70s as the very notion of flower power. The Bay Window, released in 1967, took the winning formula and tinkered only slightly with it, ensuring that the legend of the camper van’s popularity would outlive the counterculture movement that embraced it.
This example - an ex-commercial panelled van - was restored around seven years ago, in which most of its interior was refitted. In recent years the vendor has taken it out very little, leaving this nicely-kept camper ready and waiting for a new career.
